FADAA Peer Prescriber Mentor Training: MAT and Pregnancy

The second State Opioid Response (SOR) grant from SAMHSA allows for Peer Prescriber Mentors to train providers arund the state of Florida regarding best MAT practices and up to date information. Please join this upcoming training, in partnership with LSF Health Systems, to hear from one of the mentors, Dr. Jason Hunt, regarding the use of MAT with women who are pregnant. 

Jason M. Hunt, MD, is an assistant professor of addiction medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he joined the faculty in 2017 to practice addiction medicine at the UF Health Florida Recovery Center. Currently, his responsibilities include evaluating impaired safety-sensitive professionals and caring for patients in the alcohol and drug detoxification unit at UF Health Psychiatric Hospital.

Opioid Overdose Recognition and Response - NARCAN Training

Overdose is the leading cause of injury-related death in the United States--surpassing car accidents. With the recent increase in opioid overdoses, it is more important than ever to know to recognize and respond to an overdose. Attendees will:

  • Gain a better understanding of opioids and how they work
  • Learn the scope of the opioid epidemic locally and nationally
  • Identify the signs of an overdose
  • How to respond to an overdose
  • How to administer the life-saving opioid medication NARCAN nasal spray. (Note: NARCAN kits will not be provided. How/where to obtain NARCAN will be discussed.)
  • Understand Florida's overdose prevention laws

The trainingis provided by LSF Health Systems State Opioid Response Project Team Lead. Groups may request a specialized training by emailing the presenter, Nancy Rice, at nancy.rice@lsfnet.org
