Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder for Pregnant Mothers (In-person Event)

Join us for an in-person event where we will have the opportunity to hear from Dr.Jason hunt about the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder among pregnant women. He will challenge the common myths and stigma around SUD treatment for pregnant women and provide case studies to illuminate research in this area of medication assisted treatment. 

Training Objectives:

  • Discuss outcomes of both opioid use and opioid treatment during pregnancy (MAT/pharmacotherapy)
  • Discuss what happens when women who use drugs get pregnant
  • Review the risks associated with opioid use and pregnancy, newborn outcomes and NAS
  • Discuss how Stigma impacts patients and the shame associated with it deters them from seeking treatment

About your Trainer:

Jason M. Hunt, MD earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 2002. He then completed a obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Louisville in 2006. He completed an Addiction Medicine Fellowship with the University of Florida in 2016. Before becoming an addiction medicine physician he served on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association. Dr. Hunt practiced addiction medicine at UF Health / Florida Recovery Center. Currently, his responsibilities included evaluating and treating healthcare professionals and caring for patients in the Dual Diagnosis Unit  at UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital. He also provided consultation services as UF Shands Hospital as well as treatment for patients admitted to the Florida Recovery Center. Dr Hunts interests and expertise are in ob/gyn, specifically opioid use disorders in pregnancy and has given many lectures across the country. He is currently a Peer Mentor for FADAA and DCF. 

 

This is in an in-person training event that will be held at the Beaches Branch Library in the Community Room. This event is open to the public.
