The Human Trafficking Advocacy Certification Program is a structured, competency-based training designed to prepare survivor advocates, professionals and community partners to respond to human trafficking through ethical, trauma-informed, and systems-focused advocacy. This program goes beyond awareness, equipping participants with practical tools to influence policy, strengthen institutional and community responses, and support survivor-centered change at local and statewide levels. Grounded in best practices from anti-human trafficking, behavioral health, and trauma-informed care, participants learn to identify gaps, set strategic advocacy goals, engage decision-makers, and implement approaches that prioritize survivor safety, dignity, and consent.
Throughout the program, participants explore policy, systems, community, and case-level advocacy, while emphasizing collaboration, accountability, and sustainable change. By the end of the certification, participants will be able to:
- Apply trauma-informed and survivor-centered principles to advocacy efforts
- Distinguish between and appropriately use different advocacy approaches
- Design and implement a realistic local advocacy plan
- Contribute to coordinated, ethical, and effective anti-trafficking responses
- Support survivors in meaningful and impactful ways
